Traditional Actions/Indications:
  1. Moves the Blood, Promotes menstruation
    Amenorrhea, Dysmenorrhea
  2. Clears Cold Phlegm and stops coughing
    Cough and wheezing from Phlegm
    Cold Phlegm of the Stomach and Intestines
  3. Kills parasites and benefits the skin
    Applied externally for ulcers, wounds, inflammation and infection
    Used as a bath for itching and scabies
    Applied for vitiligo, leukoderma
    Also used in beauty preparations or as a base for poultices
    Applied to umbilical hernia in children

Suggested Daily Dosage: 3-9g in decoction.


Cautions: Toxic in overdose, especially the Bitter Lupin seed which must be rinsed methodically to remove the anticholinergic alkaloids. A single Bitter Lupin seed can be toxic to children. Signs of toxicity may include salivation, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, double vision, cardiac rhythm disorders, paralysis, leading possibly to death via respiratory failure.

Do not use in pregnancy.

May cause allergic reaction in those with nut allergies.
